Emma Thompson er tilbage i rollen som den magiske barnepige, der dukker op, når der er mest brug for hende, og hun er mindst ønsket.

ARMADILLO er historien om to unge soldater, Mads og Daniel, der mister deres uskyld i krigen i Afghanistan; eventyrlystne og med åbent sind rejser de fra Danmark til deres første udstationering i en ’skarp’ situation. Filmen er en rejse ind i de unge soldaters sind og et forsøg på afdækning af, hvad det vil sige at være i krig; og det er et meget lidt romantisk billede. Som et karakterdrevet, psykologisk drama afsøger Armadillo, hvordan politik møder realiteter, når det internationale samfunds intentioner om demokratisering og udvikling kolliderer med krigens skræmmende ansigt i den komplekse og ekstreme situation i Afghanistan.
